How to link PAN-Aadhaar

You can do this by visiting the official e-filing portal of Income Tax Vibag to link PAN and Aadhaar. There will be an option to link PAN-Aadhaar on the left side on this portal. To click on it, PAN number, Aadhaar number and your name will have to be filled. After this, the Income Tax Department will validate the information given by you. After this, the linking process will be completed.

Aadhaar gave statutory status to Aadhaar in September 2018. The Supreme Court had said that it is necessary to have Aadhaar for allocation of PAN number. The Income Tax Department has said that PAN cards not linked to Aadhaar card will become inoperative by 31 March 2020, meaning you will not be able to use it.

A unique 12-digit number is printed in it, which is issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). This number will be the proof of identity and address of the person, anywhere in India. Aadhaar number is the life-long identity of each person.
